Fireplace Maintenance by Treat’s Heating & Cooling
As the days get shorter and the weather gets colder, many of us retreat to our Gas Fireplaces for a cozy night. Fall is a great time to make sure your Fireplace is in good working order. Treat’s Heating & Cooling performs Gas Fireplace maintenance and would like to share a few tips on what needs to be checked annually to prevent any costly repairs.
Damper: Make sure your damper opens and closes easily – it should not be hard to open or close it, if it is this could be an indication that there may be something blocking the access and it is a good idea to get this checked out.
Dirty Glass: While it is not unusual for the glass doors to develop a light haze on them, there is a fireplace cleaner made just for fireplace doors so your view of the flames is not diminished.
Unpleasant Odor: You should never smell gas when turning on your fireplace. If you do small gas immediately call your gas provider or the fire department and exit the home to keep you and your family safe
