Furnace Tips by Treat’s Heating & Cooling
When your furnace doesn’t start you will likely have a sense of panic and wonder if there is anything you can do before calling Treat’s Heating & Cooling The answer is yes and in order for us to properly diagnose your furnace we need to make sure it is not in normal working condition.
Here are a few recommendations you can do before calling for service.
- Check the thermostat to make sure it is set to the heating function and the temperature set point is higher than the inside the home. If necessary you can turn the fan on as well.
- Check the power supply. Gas furnaces use electricity and the breaker can trip. Inspect the systems power cord for signs of damage. Make sure the power switch is in the “on” mode.
- Check the condensate pan if it is full then heating system will not turn on. The reservoir needs to be drained and then check the condensate pipe for blockage. The pump may have lost power and needs to be replaced.
- Check the pilot light, if it has gone out it needs to be re-lit. If it goes out right after it’s lit, the assembly or sensor could be dirty.
