Variable Speed Furnaces by Treat’s Heating & Cooling
It’s that time of year again to start thinking about how well your furnace is running. Treat’s Heating & Cooling would like to share some information on variable speed furnaces. A variable speed furnace allows you to adjust the blower between high and low speeds and saves energy.
When the blower is used at a lower speed the air doesn’t distribute as quickly and it takes longer to heat your home. On days when the temperature isn’t low it saves energy. Unlike a single speed motor which can only operate at one speed, a variable speed motor can operate at a wide range of speeds depending on temperatures.
The variable speed motor monitors incoming data to decide how fast or slow the blower needs to move. If your air filter is dirty a variable speed furnace can run at a higher speed to compensate for the loss of air flow. When your filter is clean, it can run at a slower speed so it doesn’t use unwanted energy. Another benefit is how it improves indoor air quality.
