Money saving tips by Treat’s Heating & Cooling
Spring is here once again and that means that you will be using your air conditioning within no time at all. You can make an effort to save money on your heating and cooling by following a few simple steps.
Programmable Thermostat: installing a programmable thermostat is one of the easiest and most cost efficient method of saving energy and money this season. Programmable thermostats automatically adjust the temperature in your home to what you preset the thermostat to, increasing your homes efficiency and helping you save money at the same time.
Increasing the heat: EPA guidelines have shown that every degree your thermostat is increased can reduce your home’s cooling costs by as much as 3%. 72F is a comfortable temperature for most people but if you are willing to go higher, you could see some energy savings.
Replace your air filters: checking and changing your filters is a very important key to the longevity of your equipment and keeping it running efficiently. You should check to see if your filter(s) are dirty and need to be cleaned or changed at least every month. We recommend a filter change once every three months.
Check for gaps in your ductwork: before you start turning your air conditioning on this season, take some time to have Treat’s Heating & Cooling inspect your ductwork for any leaks or cracks. If you have leaks or cracks in your ductwork, all you are doing is paying for cool or hot air to leak outside your home. This will save energy and money.
